Brookland is a small village that in recent times became infamous for allegedly harbouring spoils from the great train robbery. Apart from this, the village has a very fine, early English church, St Augustine with a most curious feature of a detached wooden bell tower. There is also a popular pub, The Royal Oak, a building of Elizabethan origin surrounded by trees. It is lovely to sit on winter evenings around the roaring fire or for hearty, home cooked, Sunday Lunches.

The nearest shops are in New Romney, Appledore or Rye 5 miles away or larger stores at Ashford 18 miles away, It lies just off the A259 and so close to the M20.
