The village of Peasmarsh was originally located nearer Beckley Woods but following the devastating plague of the fourteenth century it was moved nearer to the church of St Peter and St Paul and close to the road which eventually lead to London. Today Peasmarsh is a collection of pleasing weather boarded houses together with some new houses built in small enclaves off the road and some rather grand Georgian houses one of which is now a Hotel and Spa, The Flackley Ash. There is a local superstore and fuel station and a couple of public houses enroute. The school buses stop outside the super market and there is a good service into Rye and Hastings. The road to Rye takes you through Rye foreign a small hamlet with a leafy lane to the villages of Iden, Wittersham and on to Tenterden.
