The village of Woodchurch is situated just 4 miles from the Georgian town of Tenterden and 6 miles from Ashford, which makes it an ideal base for commuting to London. Surrounded by woodland the village sits on the edge of the Weald its landmark being a fine example of a ‘Smock Windmill’ which is open to the public and can be reached by a footpath between the two village pubs. There is a thriving community here with a cricket and football club and the village hall houses a theatre where the village players put on a production three times a year and a band of Morris men who began dancing together in 1990. In addition to a rather splendid 13th Century church the village has a fantastic local butcher who specialises in rearing his own pigs, and also sells other items of local produce. The houses are largely painted weatherboard and brick arranged neatly around a large central green.
